When it comes to activities in and around Punta Cana, there is no shortage. One of the more popular activities that draws locals and visitors is scuba diving. What’s so great about scuba diving is that the whole family can do it! Punta Cana has no shortage of dive shops or scuba diving tours for the whole family.
Would be nice to find some treasure!? Everyone has grown up seeing tales of pirates and treasure chests, treasure maps and pirate battles at sea. Oh the thrill of being on a treasure hunt! One of the all-time classic pirate tales is Treasure Island which the network Starz later produced a prequel called Black Sails which I loved watching. Sorry I got off track for a moment 😛 (I love pirates)
If you want to have some fun you can come to the DR and look for a pirate named Roberto Cofresí treasure chest! To this day his ship and treasure that sunk in Samana Bay has never been recovered, happy hunting!
One thing that all these pirate tales share besides adventures, sailing the beautiful blue Caribbean Sea is shipwrecks ! The Dominican Republic has some shipwrecks that are waiting for you to explore.
Astron Shipwreck: Perfect Treasure Hunter Destination
A location for some great scuba diving is the Astron Shipwreck. The Astron was originally a Russian cargo ship that ran aground back in 1978 while it was transporting 60 tons of corn to Cuba. Sorry, no treasure on this ship 🙂
